Under California's current net billing tariff (NEM 3.0), exported power is worth much less than power you use yourself. That's why we often pair solar with a battery — it stores your midday solar for the expensive evening hours.
Solar panels typically last 25–30 years and still produce about 80% or more of their original output after 25 years.
